Available free of charge to Christian Reformed Churches and at a small fee for other denominations.Help children help families in need with this fun and informative fundraising/educational project. Your students will learn how they can help families in developing countries by raising money for CRWRC's literacy programs. They will also get the chance to see the components of literacy programs come together as they raise money for a variety of items (like desks, chalk, books, libraries, and classes) and mark those items on a poster. The leader's guide includes:
- a poster to track progress towards a goal
- stickers (for the poster) to show how much your students have raised *
- 1 coloring sheet that you can photocopy for your students
- 5 stories about how literacy is changing the lives of people in need (to read, or to photocopy and send home)
- 1 page of activity suggestions
- 2 word game and puzzle sheets that you can photocopy for your students
- 1 box of chalk
Please also order:
- Stickers that your students can wear to promote the project or celebrate their success (please order enough for each child)
- Extra posters and sticker pages if you'd like individual classes to raise money separately, or if your students would like to raise money for more than one literacy class.
*Note: Each sticker represents $1 that your students bring in. As they put the stickers on the poster, they will “purchase” different items. For example, each $1 can buy a box of chalk, $3 can by an agriculture book, $20 can purchase a desk, $50 can pay for a box library, and $100 can pay for a class for children who otherwise would not be able to afford to go to school.
