This book offers a guide to the churches so that they can design and put into practice guidelines and procedures which will permit its children to be kept from the danger of mistreatment and sexual abuse.
How can the church prevent that cases of abuse of minors take place in its installations and among its members? According to Beth Swagman, director of the program of the Christian Reformed Church for prevention of mistreatment and sexual abuse of minors, the best way to begin is by putting into function a broad program of prevention. Swagman affirms, “if each church would carry out norms of abuse prevention, the occurrence of abuse of minors would be reduced by at least 4%, which is an important gain in favor of the protection of minors.”
