A Sunday school class is discussing the upcoming Christmas program. One says it's hard to be joyful when there's so much bad stuff going on in the world. Maybe this isn't a good time to be joyful. The kids look at four stories from the Bible that describe God's faithfulness even during difficult times:
- Three Israelite slaves discuss the difficulties of making bricks for Egypt.
- Three Israelite soldiers discuss the merits of walking around Jericho for six days. Perhaps they won't march on day seven.
- Three Israelites wonder how one prophet of God, Elijah, will have a chance against Ahab and 450 prophets of Baal.
- Two shepherds contrast the quiet town of Bethlehem with a big party in Herod's palace. Roman rule is making life difficult for them.
In the final scene, the class concludes that while we might be scared about what's happening in our world, we can trust our God to always be faithful to us. God is still in control, and this is an excellent time to celebrate the hope and joy that accompany the birth of Jesus Christ.
Bible passages and songs are included in each scene.
