If you love your neighbors, you should invite them to church, right? Wrong.

Loving your neighbors isn't about getting them to join you on Sundays. It's about living your faith right where you are and BEING the church to the people around you.

This flexible guidebook will help you, your small group, or your church get started in neighborhood ministry and missional living. It includes ideas for group meetings, practices to help you develop a better spiritual life, and real-life ideas for reaching out to your neighborhood.

If you really want to know your neighbors and love them like Jesus would, don't invite them to church. BE the church.

"I'm browsing this, and I'm really excited. I think it's terrific! It's fresh, helpful, practical, interesting, and I think I want to buy buy copies for all the deacons at my church. It combines spiritual growth with community engagement in a really helpful way." —Karl Westerhof, Deacon's Guide, The Network of the Christian Reformed Church

I finished this book today. It really is very good. Here's what I thought: Where Micheal Frost's book made me unsettled and frustrated with the inadequacies of the organized church, this book made me unsettled with myself. Where authors such as Frost and Hirsch give fodder for the intellect, this book gives tools for individuals to engage and activate, alone or in small groups. I love it that it's a quick study, that it's not overly descriptive, that it's meant for a group. I love the fact that I can pass this book on to almost every one, regardless of where they are at as long as they desire to see Jesus alive in their lives and communities, even in the most abstract sense. And, I love it that the author and her family have walked the talk along with others.

Don't Invite Them To Church is more than just a catchy title. It is the heart and soul of what God is up to in our neighborhoods and where God wants us to join him. Karen Wilk provides a Biblical, practical, challenging study that will literally move each apprentice of Jesus out of their seat and into the street. We and our neighborhoods may never be the same again!
