The Association of Christian Reformed Educators (ACRE) is an organization made up of church educators who serve congregations in the Christian Reformed Church in North America in children's and adult educational ministries. Its purpose is to promote and strengthen the church's educational ministries on congregational, classical, and denominational levels by supporting, encouraging, and advocating for church educators in the Christian Reformed Church (CRC).
The CRC has many titles for this position within its churches: Sunday school coordinator/superintendent, education director, education committee chair, children’s ministry director, director of discipleship, family pastor, etc. If you are a staff member or volunteer whose role fits these titles, you may want to consider joining ACRE. We believe this network will be the voice that shapes the future of educational ministry within our denomination!
The annual membership fee of $55 for volunteer educators and $65 for professional educators includes these benefits:
- Copies of three new educational resources from Faith Alive throughout the year (valued at $50), and an opportunity for your input to shape future resources.
- A $45 registration discount for the annual Grow conference.
- Full membership in the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators (APCE), including
- a subscription to The Advocate, APCE’s quarterly educator’s journal that features articles and ideas from educators in the CRC, RCA, and PCUSA (valued at $30).
- a $175 discount for the APCE Main Event (the 2009 Event will take place in San Antonio, Texas, January 28-31).
- access to $500 grants for ministry networking groups, and full scholarships (including registration, travel, lodging, and meals) for the APCE Main Event for educators who lead networking groups (five grants and five full scholarships awarded per year).
- Most important, access to the wisdom of a bi-national network of church educators connected through e-newsletters, a webpage, and a blog that tracks educational ministries throughout the CRC—from opportunities for continuing ed to great ideas from educators across North America.
Cancellation Policy
Mail-in and online registrations may be cancelled for a full refund up to two weeks before the conference. If cancellation is necessary, please contact Lynn Setsma at setsmal@crcna.org as far in advance as possible.
Registration may be transferred to a different person by notifying Lynn Setsma at the above e-mail address. The new attendee may or may not be able to select new grow sessions, depending on availability.
Last-Minute Registrations
For planning purposes we ask that you register for the Grow Conference by Friday, October 3. We will not be collecting money or taking registrations at the door. After October 3, please contact Lynn Setsma at setsmal@crcna.org to arrange last-minute registrations.
Photo Release
Photos and videos may be taken at the Grow Conference for promotional purposes. By registering for this conference you grant Faith Alive permission to use your picture in promotional materials.
