The book of Judges records a period of about 300 years between the death of Joshua and the beginning of the monarchy(era of kings) in Israel. This is atroubled time in Israel's history, in which the people were often at war as they settled into the land God had giventhem. But it's also a time of heroes andmiracles by which God worked to sustain his struggling people to bring a Savior into this troubled world.
Though some of the stories in Judges have shocking twists and puzzling turns, we discover that human nature isn't much different than it was a few thousand years ago. Wealso see clearly that God is alwaysfaithful despite the weakness and waywardness of his people.
