Description
Jesus bids farewell to his followers in an unheard of way: «Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age» (Mathew 28:20). His presence is to be a constant companion in life, wherever the place, whatever the setting. Christianity is not an ideology entailing a series of presuppositions and goals. It is a close relationship with a personal Saviour. Christianity is not a discipline made up of rules and tasks. It is an intimate relationship with a Friend, a Father, a Shepherd who is really there for us. Christian prayers are not lost into the void. They are poured in a caring ear. Reading the Bible is not an `on my own' experience. It is a guided experience of trusting. Temptation fighting is not a solitary struggle. It is a by the hand issue deal. There is, and there always will be, a most significant Other as Guide and Helper. Even when tossed about by untoward odds. How does a Christian believer learn to trust the reality of the presence of Jesus? How to live it out in the midst of everyday tasks and relationships?
